Wind Turbines

|
A wind turbine uses the wind to drive its blades, this in turn is converted into either kinetic or mechanical energy which is then converted into electricity. A wind turbine can be used in parallel with a solar panel to achieve the greatest renewable source and further reduce utility bills of a home. Major energy companies use wind farms to provide for a percentage of their allocated energy, however a home owner can now purchase a smaller turbine which can be used as a renewable source. A common practice on an industrial sized wind farm is for the turbines to charge batteries which store the energy for when there is a lack of wind to turn the blades. This process is now very manageable in the home and a system on a smaller scale is becoming common in European countries such as Denmark and Holland, it is only a matter of time before it takes off in this country.
